The BMW Martini

By: Marjie Martini

As always insight comes to me in the latest hour of the evening. This evening I have to make a confession and it is about one of my greatest loves, other than the martini. It is my love of truly fast automobiles! Believe it or not a woman can love a sleek car just as much as a man. So consider my amazement when I was enlightened by my buddy that there was a BMW martini. This man is an inspiration for any man who loves toys, especially expensive ones. He coined the phrase the only difference between a man and a boy is the price of his toys.

Our conversation started as he introduced me to the BMW martini, I was truly intrigued when he pulled out the Jack Daniels whiskey from the cabinet. I knew that this was going to be a very interesting evening; a few martinis followed by a great steak dinner and then of course cigars and scotch. Now before I get into this, I have to remind everyone that I am truly a woman in every sense of the word, I love being a girl but I can drink Jack, discuss cars and smoke a stogie with any man and I love every minute of it. Yes boys, I am every man's dream girl. My buddy was shaking up this martini, a unique blend of Baileys, Malibu and Whisky (Jack Daniels) hence the BMW. I was giggling as I took my first sip, how original I stated "to make a martini name out of the initials of the ingredients." That giggle was replaced by my smirk as the unique taste of this martini hit me. He laughed and said "thought you might like this one" of course he was right.

We took our martinis and moved into the garage, the best place to drink and discuss the latest toy, the new BMW. There is nothing like drinking a martini and sitting in a new car with the smell of leather and playing with all the gadgets and gizmos. BMW has the gizmos down to a fine art, there was everything. My buddy explained all the things this car could do, and

“The BMW could do almost everything except make us another martini or perform sexual favors.”

Because I am not an advocate of drinking and driving we saved the drive for the next morning and you know we killed it. However the stereo and the gadgets were enough to keep us happy for a few more martinis.

As the evening proceeded we discussed everything from horsepower and handling to ergonomics and styling and of course price. Was the car worth the price? We debated the BMW against all the others Audi, Mercedes and Volvo. The conversation was intense and heated at several points, I still say the Audi all wheel drive rocks and that BMW can not beat that one. As we lit up our cigars, I asked the question of why does a man need to have so many toys? Was it to prove his manhood? Was it an ego contest against his friends? Why was it that a man had to possess so many material things?

Mr. BMW pondered this question for awhile, he had actually never thought of why he keeps buying toys. He stated that it had nothing to do with the ego or proving anything to himself or his friends. The true reason he loves his toys was just plain and simple it was fun! We drank and smoked late into the evening, and as I went to sleep I realized that men are so much less complicated than my girlfriends, they just do things because it is fun.

Conclusion:

As I drank my Baileys and coffee and popped a few Advil, I started the engine of the BMW and hit the road. Thank god one of the gadgets was a coffee holder because boy did I need it. As I accelerated around yet another corner, I smiled because yes my buddy was right this was just pure and simple FUN! The BMW martini is sleek, just like the lines of this beautiful car. The Bailey and Malibu give it that smoothness but the Whiskey gives it the punch, just like when you hit the pedal and the car takes off and you pass everything in sight. Both the car and the martini give you that smirk, which tells you that life is actually very simple and that you know you are having way too much fun.
