The Fabulous And Forty Martini

As always insight comes to me in the latest hour of the evening. This evening was very educational and hugely entertaining. My girlfriends and I had the chance to enter the world of the Cosmopolitans. We decided that since we all had been drinking this beverage for at least the past 15 years that we should actually try and find the very best one. I personally have been over the Cosmo for about 5 years just because I drank way too many for a very long time; however on this evening my love for them was renewed.

We went on a search for the perfect Cosmo recipe. There has to be over a 100 variations for this one drink. Every bartender makes it different and most of them can not make a good one. After several tastings and several martini bars later we ended up at one of my favorite martini bars. This bar has the benefit of being located in a fantastic steak restaurant. The thing about this martini bar is that it has a great view, a great view of men I mean. Men love to eat steak and steak restaurants always have great looking male staff. So when 12 women walk in and order Cosmo martinis you know that it is going to be an entertaining evening.

Well the search was over, after much deliberation we concluded that we had found the perfect fabulous cosmopolitan. This martini was a blend of vodka and triple sec mixed with lime and cranberry juice but the difference that made it simply fabulous was the addition of Chambord, a sweet berry flavored liqueur. It was also garnished with purple grapes which made it unique and very pretty. We decided on this recipe for several reasons. This was a martini we could drink all evening without it becoming too sweet. It also did not have the tarty after taste that some Cosmo martinis can possess. We also liked the color; it was really red and very hot.

With my search complete I stood back with my fabulous martini and watched my girlfriends go. It occurred to me as I watched these women who were all between 36-44 years old, that they were all hot, just like the martini. Most of them were married; at least 75% of them had children.

“What is it about woman that when they hit 40, they only get better?”

I stood back and studied my girlfriends, they were all different body shapes and sizes, yet they were all fit and toned. They all had great hair and skin, and they were all dressed superbly regardless of their style. That was then it hit me; these women were all hot because they were all unique and confident.

Most women fear turning 40 years old. I always say that a woman never has a 39th year; it is always referred to as the year before she turns 40. I have attended many birthday parties and have realized that something happens to a woman at 40. Even though they fear this birthday, it is this year when every woman actually gets better. It is the time when a woman gets a better body, a better hair style and a better look. Maybe it is because they start taking better care of themselves? Maybe it's because they have finally realized that they are great just the way they are. I actually think the reason woman just get better is because they have spent most of their 30’s trying to be perfect, and now they just don't give a shit anymore. They can look in the mirror and accept who they are and be happy with what they have. It is this inner confidence which makes a woman glow and have that permanent sexuality. It was this sexuality that my girlfriends possessed. I watched in awe as my girlfriends had a constant stream of men, catering to their every wish. The men were loving it; these women were funny, intelligent and very good looking with nothing to hide. (Including wedding rings).

Conclusion:

For a woman turning 40 is just like the search for the perfect Cosmopolitan martini. After many years of searching for the perfect person and the perfect martini, you finally find it in something unique and confident. Being truly fabulous comes from the inside; it is the unique blend of the same ingredients that have always been there with the addition of something special, in this case inner confidence and Chambord. As I took a sip of my fabulous martini I realized that I could not wait to turn 40! Because looking around me I realized that I was only going to get better and better. With that thought in mind I raised my martini and proposed a toast to all my fabulous & 40 girlfriends, for without them I would not have realized my uniqueness or discovered the best Cosmopolitan martini ever!
