The Tope Martini

Now, I can just imagine that everyone must be wondering what the hell a Tope (pronounced Toe Pay) martini is? Well let me tell you that this is a martini that you consume after the hell day that never ends. It is the “thank god” martini that you sip after a long insane day. The Tope can be a bit knarly if you don’t add just the right amount of sweetness but sometimes you just need a martini that will knock you on your ass and make you realize how lucky you are to be alive. Well this is how the story goes…

Once upon a time there were three magnificent blondes that each possessed significant skills, they ended up on a Mexican adventure were they encountered the Tope martini and unfortunately pay they did. One of the women had the stellar skill of serious martini making, the other had the ability to communicate in fluent Spanish and be incredibly sassy and the third was blessed with body of a movie star and the mechanical skills of MacGyver. Did I mention the fact that they were all incredibly gorgeous, hilarious and could kill it on a surf board?

“It was due to their skills and great boobs plus a serious team effort that enabled them to survive the Tope!”

Tope is the Spanish word for speed bump. If you ever travel in Mexico you will quickly learn that Tope’s are everywhere and they are generally unmarked and huge. Many Topes have been known to take out the undercarriage of cars and can knock people on their ass. The Tope martini is similar it is unmarked, you would never expect that a clear martini with a simple lime would have the ability to knock you on your ass in one glass. This martini is a deathly mixture of Lemon Vodka, Lime Vodka with the fresh juice of lemon and lime and just a dash of bar syrup; it has the strong zing of lemon and lime with just a hint of sweetness plus the added bonus of a subtle kick of vodka. The vodka taste is subtle but the effect is not.

The adventure started with the Mexican car rental. The “death trap” as it was later renamed appeared safe and sound at onset but after a short drive they encountered a flat tire. With there skills of beauty, language and mechanics they quickly recruited two lovely men who remedied the situation. They were relieved and continued on, as they were singing 80’s tunes their playfulness was interrupted by the Tope! “Bam” they had never hit a speed bump that large with no warning, this was the intro to the second flat tire and later a back bumper that fell off 5 times. Using their skills of language, beauty, humor and mechanics they arrived at their destination safe, sweaty and in desperate need of a martini. Particularly, the blonde mechanic because she had dubbed the car a “piece of shit and she would know being that she was covered in mud and maneuuoer from repairing the bumper many times.

This was when the blonde martini master created a martini that took away all the trials and tribulations of the journey. They celebrated the fact that they had reached their destination safely and that even though they had been delayed they had met amazing people along the way that aided in their dilemmas. As the second Tope martini was savored the ladies joked at being knocked on their ass and how it made them realized and appreciate each other for being incredibly resourceful. They giggled at the hilarious antics that had occurred and toasted the special skills that they each possessed. They were a team and a deep bond had been created. No Tope was going to slow done these ladies, hell they were the modern version of the Charlie’s Angels. All they required was a good looking Charlie.

Well ask and you shall receive because after a few Tope martinis guess who arrived at the beach bar and settled himself at their table? A very tall blonde and handsome surfer who introduced himself as Charlie. Well, that introduction sent the ladies into fits of hysterical laughter. They had found their Charlie and all they knew for certain was that the adventure was only going to continue and with the addition of Charlie the night was only getting better and better.

Conclusion:

Sometimes you need a good kick in the ass to wake you up and make you realize what you appreciate. The Tope martini has the perfect Vodka kick with the tartness of Lemon and Lime. It finishes with a subtle sweetness which is just like the relief you feel when you surrender to the situation around you. When you surrender to what is around you the life dramas become opportunities for adventure. When you trust that everything always happens for a reason then you begin to see that from the greatest ass kicking comes the most fabulous lessons. Lessons like appreciation of others, bonds of friendship and the joy of laughter and of course the beauty of a hot and handsome man.
