Martinis at Midnight

The Mystical Martini

The Mystical Martini

There are always things in your life that can not be explained. We are constantly in a state of wonder. We are always thinking about what might happen. What we should do? How is this situation going to work out? Our life is constant stream of questions about what might happen in the future. It would be so much easier if we knew the future. Or would it? The Mystical martini is just like all the things in your life that can not be explained, it is one of those martinis that just works.

Being that I write about martinis, I am constantly presented with new martinis to sample; they usually have unique ingredients and sometimes very strange combinations. This is how I was presented with the Mystical martini. As it was placed on the bar, it reminded me of a crystal ball. The sides of the martini glass where slightly frosted and the martini shimmered with an orange/ red glow. As I took a sip I wondered if a martini could tell me my future. As I tasted this martini I was hit with a rush of sensations, this drink was strong WOW! It was one of those martinis that made the hair tingle on the back of my neck but then there was a sweet slightly tart finish. It took me a few more sips but I came to the conclusion that this one was a keeper. The Mystical martini is a combination of Jose Cuervo Mistico Tequila, Chambord and sour mix. Now I know what you are thinking. Yuk! But, this is a blend that is frighteningly good. The tequila makes this drink strong but the raspberry flavor of the Chambord combined with the sour mix give this martini a very unique flavor.

As I slowly twirled the stem of my martini I was intrigued by why people want to know the future. I had just come from a physic reading with a very nice woman who had been recommended to me. My girlfriends swore by this woman, she was super physic and knew it all. They had all been to see her at different times in their lives, usually when they where in some sort of turmoil. Hence, the reason why I went. I was undecided about many things in my life and felt that I needed to make some decisions.

“The physic was fairly normal; she did not wear veils or speak in weird languages.”

Once she lit a candle she just held my hand and started speaking. It was very strange at first because she knew all these things about me; I started to wonder if my girlfriends had filled her in but I realized that there was no way she could know some of this stuff. The physic then had me deal some tarot cards. I was kinda bummed out because I was looking forward to a crystal ball. When I asked her about the crystal ball she just laughed and said that the ball was not her medium. I just smiled like I knew what that meant. As she turned the cards over she started to talk about what was going on in my life. She knew that there was a man in my life that I loved but he was far away, she also knew that I was not sure if he was committed and that I was undecided about whether to take the leap of faith. She also went on about another man that would come into my life and I would have to choose.

The physic also told me about my career and what was going on and what was going to happen in the next 6 months. She then described my family and a few friends. I was also told I would have more money and that everything would work out as it should and that my life is destined. I asked a few questions and then said good bye. That is when I headed for the martini bar.

As I ordered another martini I could not decide if this physic reading made me feel better or worse. If everything was suppose to work out as it should and it was all destined to be, why the hell did I just pay $100.00 to be told that? The skeptic in me wondered if she told everyone that they were going to get more money. What about all the fakes and con artists that prey on unhappy people and give them false hope! Is that not wrong? But I had to admit that there were things that she knew that I had not told anyone. Was I becoming a believer? What about the other guy that was going to come into my life? Now I was going to be on the look out for a dark haired 45 year old guy. Damn, this was retarded! I went to this chick to get some clarity and now I was even more confused. What I was really questioning, was did she actually predict my future or just pick up on my hidden fear? If we are told something is going to happen does that alter our decisions. Is predicting the future, actually a prediction or is it a hidden subconscious fear? Does predicting the future give us false hope and a false sense of security? What is the point? If it is all going to happen anyway, shouldn’t we just let it!

As I drank my Mystical Martini I realized that this martini could predict my future as good as anyone else could. If it was clarity that I needed in my life then the only one that could get it was me. However, this martini was helping me see things very clearly. When people are dealing with difficult decisions or are at a cross roads in their life, it is easier to seek an answer from someone else. When people are unhappy they seek out something that will give them hope, this hope can come from a physic, preacher or motivational speaker. I guess it does not matter how we get the hope or clarity, just as long as we get it.

Conclusion:

The Mystical Martini is a drink that will give you some clarity. The color of this martini is like looking into your future through a crystal ball. You never know what is going to happen in life, it is the same with this martini. The Tequila in this martini will give you that shiver that goes down your spine just like when someone starts to tell you your future but then the sweet tangy flavor from the Chambord kicks in and it is this taste that gives you that nice warm glow, it is just like when you are reassured that everything is going to work out. Everyone is different and however people seek guidance is up to them, but deep inside the only one who can make the decisions is you. So trust your instincts and do what ever it takes to get clarity. In this case drink the Mystical Martini, then you will not need to know the future.
