The
Politician Martini
As
always insight comes to me in the latest hour of the evening. This
was an evening that was very very passionate. One of the
greatest debates you can ever enter into is the one of
politics because no one is ever right or wrong. It is
kinda like debating religion or sex it is totally a personal
opinion. A political debate is often very heated and sometimes
can bring about conflict because two peoples view do not
match. Let’s face it, many of the wars in the world
are because of the fact that two different political views
did not match. Well tonight was a night of political talk,
so I decided I needed a good strong martini to get through
all the shit.
The Politician was
very appropriate for this type of discussion; it is a
mixture of Vodka and Goldschlager. This martini is stirred
not shaken and then garnished with a lemon twist. Simple,
sweet and stunning. Goldschlager is a cinnamon schnapps
liqueur but the coolest part about it, is the gold leaf
flakes. It gives the vodka a tangy cinnamon heart taste
but it is stunning with the gold flakes floating in the
glass. This is a martini that is to be sipped and enjoyed
slowly, as it can bring on much contemplation.
I never use to participate
in political discussions because I always remember my
father going on endlessly about the government and how
they were all idiots and thieves. I often wondered what
he was so upset about and remember thinking stop ranting
about something that you can never change. The other factor
was that I found politics extremely boring, well that
was then and this is now. I realized awhile ago that men
are usually the ones discussing politics and that there
are very few woman who participate, I decided to step
up my knowledge of the issues because this is a great
arena for meeting cute men. Amazingly, once I became aware
of the political issues I actually found it very interesting
and I had become one of those passionate political people,
who believed that you can make a difference.
“But
the men factor was a definite bonus!”
This
is how I found myself surrounded by good looking, intelligent
men while I was drinking this stunning martini. The topics
were hot, very hot. It was the gearing up for the local
government election and everyone was upset about something
that was not done correctly over the past few years. All
the men had different opinions on who would make a better
leader, as we discussed the options it seemed that all
the candidates were either on the take, ego maniacs, cheaters
or liars. As I sat back and observed the discussion I
realized that politics is a lot like being a single woman.
When a woman meets a new man she is always very skeptical,
usually because the men that she meets are always in to
for the ulterior motive (ie; the sex), so she can never
believe what they say. The push/pull game of the first
couple dates is just like a political discussion.
